I wish I'd read this sooner. I need to go and read all of Aiden Thomas' books now while I wait for the sequel to this. I really need the sequel soon because this ended on a bit of a cliffhanger! This is the first in a duology and comparative titles are the hunger games and Percy Jackson. This is because it's based off Mexican mythology and there's a tournament where a bunch of teenagers compete against each other. Ten between the ages of thirteen and eighteen get chosen by Sol who is the big powerful sun god. If you win you honor all the temples but if you lose you basically get killed in sacrifice. Our main character is the son of the bird goddess and can't even fly at the start so we're pretty much rooting for the unlikely underdog. However this was one of my favorite perspectives to read from, loved seeing how this character grew and can't wait to see more.
