This sounds like a really interesting premise. It sounds very much like the opening of the Hunger Games (fear for someone being selected for the Trials, ends up going the opposite way), and also the fact that the Trials sounds very much like the Games. Although having it be a sacrifice is an interesting twist. I appreciate the diversity that this book represents, but fantasy is not a genre I gravitate towards so I will skip.
