So this book had me HOOKED!!! Right from the beginning where it starts with a journal entry from the killer, I had to keep reading. This was my first Charlie Donlea book, I just learned he has a series with the same characters from this book. This one is the second in the series but can be read as a stand alone.
This is the story about a mysterious crime scene at a boarding school, it was solved quickly and they caught the guy, they think....? The case gets looked at again when a popular podcast is started about it and others involved keep heading back to the scene to kill themselves. Lane and Rory are experts in their fields at solving cold cases so they have been recruited for this one.
This book is written with multiple storylines going on at once. Normally, I do not like that because it is easy to get lost, but the way each chapter left off with a cliffhanger made me NEED to keep reading. The flow of the chapters was easy to follow and it felt like I was watching a movie with the execution of the different scenes. This novel had me guessing the entire time, and I still got it wrong!
This book would have gotten 5 stars from me if it wasn't for how quickly the ending happened. The book had a very strong build up and then all of a sudden it was over. I expected a more drawn out and intense ending to the story.
I will still give it a solid 4.5 rating though, and I do recommend it for everyone!
