I read this to fulfill a prompt for book bingo and didn’t realize this was the second book out of a series. Although the topic and type of book is my type I don’t know that I would have ever come across this one, much less read it if I wasn’t looking for a particular prompt. I’m glad I found it. The story was well written and kept you guessing through most of the story. The characters weren’t actually annoying however a few things were repeated a bit much for me, but it didn’t take away from the overall story. The plot and story line were pretty original and not too far fetched of an idea which helps with the overall appeal and enjoyment of the book. There is a neurodivergent character in this book and I feel it was well done without necessarily harping on it, making it feel realistic and normalized that some are different. Overall, I enjoyed this book and may go look for the first book of the series as well to devour like I did this one.
