This is a mystery thriller set at a prep school with a secret society (seriously - secret society and prep school is right up my alley). It is very fast paced with short chapters of alternating perspectives. I really love books like this, so, as you can imagine, I really enjoyed this one. I did figure out most of the mystery before the end but that's okay with me.
The main detective characters are really quite fleshed out and so is the plot. I would maybe have liked to get to know the students a bit more and since I love reading about prep schools, I think I would have enjoyed more details about that life and their day to day.
The rhythm and interplay of the past and present was done quite well and it definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend this!
Note: this is the second in the series but doesn't need to be read in order and reads quite well as a standalone. I haven't read the first book and I didn't feel like I was missing anything. I am intrigued to read the first one though.
