First of all, just the cover itself is amazing....are those red flowers? Is it blood? The more you look at it, the more you're not sure.

Then you read the first lines of the excerpt. Someone is describing how they killed their kid brother (using a train) - but very coldly, calmly, methodically -- like they're reading their grocery list or something.

We're then introduced to a blog writer and podcast guy, both of whom are telling the story of what happened at a prep school - two gruesome murders. And now the survivors of those murders are killing themselves at the same place -- wait for it -- on the train tracks. Yep, the train runs through this entire excerpt.

We briefly meet Lane the psychologist at the end of the excerpt but don't get to meet Rory, who is a forensic reconstructionist. We've been given all these small snippets of the story - and all we need is Rory who is going to figure it all out for us. I can't wait to read the rest of this story!
