The story is intriguing, but I wasn't fully immersed in the story

The story is intriguing, but I wasn't fully immersed in the story. There are so many different perspectives and while I think they are sometimes interesting, it just felt like it was prolonging the exposition. I was really confused that we didn't even meet Rory, the character in the synopsis, and who I assumed was the MC. I don't usually read Adult Mystery/Thrillers, so maybe this set-up is usual. While I do think the mystery is a little intriguing, and I am a little curious how everything connects, it just is too slow and I think I'll pass.
