I really wanted to love this book more.. When I first heard that this was going to be a take on Sherlock Holmes/Watson mixed with pirates and gods, I was really intrigued. There was a huge info dump in the first chapter. Once I got passed that, I could really enjoy the world building and the characters as individuals. Buc as a protagonist didn’t feel very relatable even though she was interesting to read about, she seemed a little over the top. Eld was a well written character that did balance her out some so she wasn’t too unlikeable.
In general, it’s a fun read and I would definitely recommend it to those that love pirates, magic and that mystery element but me personally, I just needed more.
