I don't know this one was hard to read for me, the main character Buc, I just could not connect with. I've seen were other readers had described her as "Sherlock Holmes" character, she is very smart & adventurous while needing her next fix or high. I just couldn't care either way if she solved the mystery. I loved the concept of the main character & her "friend or side kick" Eld trying to solve a crime but it just everyone was against them from the start. The writing style for me was not as fluid and hard to comprehend at times. I found myself having to re-read passage. I did like the other characters in the story, the magic & the adventures on the sea. there didn't seem to be enough world building to keep my interest, Buc wasn't someone I cared enough about to continuing series, didn't understand why ELD stayed with her. This just was not for me, I really loved the synopsis but just didn't work.
