The Sin in the Steel quickly immerses the reader in a fantasy world filled with mayhem and mischief. Our cunning, crime-solving heroine, Buc, and her partner in crime, Eld, are intriguing and I'm interested to see how their characters deal with the issues they face. While the writing is promising, I don't find the cover that compelling, unfortunately. Between the zoom in on the heroine's face, the ship in the background, and the giant font on the cover, there's not a lot of negative space of the viewer's eye to move around. It feels very chaotic -- though I suppose that matches the tone of the novel to a degree.
