This book, although it has a really pretty cover, didn't exactly meet my expectations as I felt like while reading it the book seemed to be almost incomplete or missing something. I enjoy learning about holocaust related topics and watching movies that are inspired by events during World War II and the Holocaust, but unfortunately I did not feel as though this book measured up to all that it promised to. It was still a good read, however, as it had a lot of themes of love and loss that, while they were not badly executed, I feel like should have been expanded on and improved on in order to make them more gripping for the reader. The characters suffer a lot in this story, which is not surprising given the time and context, but I just feel as though more could have and should have been done to perhaps bring the characters and their story to life a bit more.
