I am a fan of historical fiction, so I looked forward to the excerpt of "The Silent Unseen" by Amanda McCrina. I loved that Ms. McCrina included a "Historical Note" and map at the beginning of her novel. I'm a strong believer, that we need to know and learn from our past atrocities, to prevent a future occurrence. The "Historical Note" would also be helpful for YA readers that may not be too familiar with this time in history. On a final comment, the "Historical Note" also assists readers in understanding the plot and actions of the characters.
Ms. MCCrina does a great job of describing the main character, Maria, the additional characters that Maria comes in contact with, including her brother, Tomek. The characters and plot are believable, even though this is a historical fiction.
Thus far, this novel is easy to follow with an intriguing plot.
