I'm not the biggest fan of historical fiction, particularly WWII works, so this book had an uphill battle against it from the outset. And as for a book where people from opposing sides in a war come together...it's not my favorite trope, as it's been used to such heinous effect historically. This book may be great, and it seems like it takes a nuanced look at some very overlooked (at least in the US) aspects of the last year of WWII, but it remains assuredly not for me.
