How close to home this book feels. My grandmother was just a little girl in Poland when the war struck. She too was forced into a work camp at the beginning of WWII.
My grandfather was in the Polish liberation army and fought for Polands freedom. Speaking many languages and looking for freedom, I feel that this novel is all too real for me.
