This debut novel by Alex Michaelides is a psychological thriller immediately reels you in and keeps you guessing. There are twist up until the very last pages. I couldn’t put it down and read every free moment I had finishing the book within the first 24 hours. Now to get to the details of why this book is so intriguing...

Alicia Berenson has been convicted and sentenced for murdering her husband. She been committed to a a psychiatric hospital as since the murder she had refused to speak, as tho she is in a constant comatose state. Alicia and Gabriel appeared to be so deeply in love, so what would drive Alicia to fatally shot him 5 times? And if she were innocent why won’t she speak to clear her of this heinous crime?

Enter Theo Faber who himself has overcome a traumatic history to become a successful psychotherapist who takes immediate interest in the case of Alicia. As the story unfolds we learn many things about both Alicia and Theo, which weave an interesting story, Theo seems to have an instinct about Alicia not being a cold blooded killer as people surrounding the case claim, and is immediately infatuated with getting her to open up to him and speak her truth.

It's a compelling story that doesn't truly reveal itself until the closing of the plot. You can’t tell who is responsible for the crime in this thriller novels until it’s unfolded in the final pages.

It’s easy to see why this book is on everyone must read list. I’ve heard that a movie adaptation is possibly already in the works and can guarantee it will be on my must watch list as soon as it hits theaters!
