The Silent Patient is about a psychotherapist, Theo, who starts working at The Grove to get close to the infamous Alicia Berenson. Alicia is known for murdering her husband, Gabriel, and then refusing to speak, leaving everyone to wonder why she killed him, and moreso, why she isn't talking.

The twists and turns in this book had me reading late into the night. I will admit that the beginning was a pretty slow start for me. I had a hard time getting into the book until I hit about page 50 or so. Then, I was grabbed and pulled into the story. I thought this would be like any other typical thriller, where you can guess bits and pieces throughout the book as to what is happening and why. And, I guess to an extent, that still held true. There were things that I guessed correctly. There was quite a bit of foreshadowing, and after finishing the book, it all makes sense the way it turned out; it was set up that way from the beginning. But, unlike most thrillers, I felt as though this book started in the middle and worked outward.

This book had all of the things to make a great thriller: an unreliable narrator, a murder-mystery, unreliable and unlikable characters, scandal, twists and turns every few chapters... the list goes on.

I liked that Michaelides had his own unique writing style, and used a vocabulary that is above typical authors. His twisted story definitely deserves to be on the best sellers list this year. I will be recommending this to all my thriller-loving friends.
