The Silent Patient follows Alicia and Theo. Alicia killed her husband and has not talked since. Theo is the psychiatrist who is assigned to her case to find out why she killed him. I picked this book up because of the gripping synopsis and the interesting cover. This book did not go just as I thought it would. I thought that it would be solely from Theo’s point of view, considering Alicia doesn’t talk, but you also get her perspective inside her mind. It is interesting how the author makes it from the point of view of the killer and yet you never get definitive answers due to the unsteady state of her mind. The ending was the best part of the book. I did not see that ending and it just snuck up on me. Going back and thinking about it Alex Michaelides did but some hints toward the ending and they were very subtle for those who look close enough. His writing was definitely extremely skilled to be able to layer these hints into the overall story.
