"At this, Alicia looked up. She stared at me- right through me." Perhaps this is one of the stronger statements of this story, simply due to the fact that the book itself is called 'The Silent Patient.' However, even though no words were completely exchanged between the narrator and the character, Alicia, there's still plenty to be said. I personally believe that the tension, even though it's not described, can still be felt by the reader.

I can't say that the plot of this story is so clear-cut and dry, because as soon as you believe that you have it figured out, the author, Alex Michaeliders, turns it on its head and takes it a completely different direction. Honestly, and this may just be me, but I'm going to say that it was a very surprising plot twist that I couldn't see coming. It's a very in-depth read that really grabs the reader's attention and refuses to let go; I know it had its claws stuck in me. It's a very compelling story about a woman who really seems to have her life together and seems to be going places. To an everyday, average person, her life is something to envy and dream of. She's happily married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she's a famous painter, has a lovely house in one of the most desired spots in London.

So why would a woman with such a perfect love go and execute her husband and ruin it all? Many of those around Alicia have wondered this and believe it to be insanity, however, with her taking a vow of silence, how will they ever truly know? Many have tried and many have failed, yet she still remains silent. So is there ever any one right person that can get her to speak once more about that horrendous night and get her to tell her side as to what happened? And what really drove her to do such a heinous crime? Or, perhaps, was she just in the wrong place at the wrong time? As the reader it is up for you to find out the true reason behind this tale, and who the patient really is. This is a book that I highly recommend picking up and reading.
