I just finished The Silent Patient last night and I have been trying to properly get my head around it still, basically at how great it was! There are so many intricate characters which in retrospect don't feel that important now that I know what the huge ending twist is (that I never saw coming!!) but during the story, these characters felt so crucial. The theme of psychiatry is also super interesting and the diagnosis of the 'silent patient' as they keep talking about her as if she is very alluring and deceptive. But in fact, the plot is doing exactly that to you as the reader! Trapping you in, making you point the finger at different characters and try to piece together with the knowledge you are given that you so desperately cling onto to feel that you know what is happening. But, it's all a lie. When the ball dropped in the ending, my mind was and still is, completely blown at how clever it is. Huge bravo to this first time published author - what an amazing read!
