I LOVE a book that turns everything on its head and makes me question everything I just read. This one started out simply enough: a female patient in a psych ward who refuses to speak, and who appears to have killed her husbands. She never speaks, not even to defend herself, and so no one gets anywhere with her. But that twist at the end, where the psychiatrist ends up being so tangled up in what happened that night, really just threw me for a loop. I hadn't seen it coming and I couldn't have predicted it. The true mark of a great mystery. Also, the cover design of this book is simply brilliant. So subtle that I didn't notice the hidden face in it for the longest time, but such a clever design!
