The cover is the first thing that grabbed my attention. The partially obscured face staring out is really creepy. The art alone makes me want to read this book!
The first three chapters delve into the strange story of Alicia shooting her husband multiple times in the face and then her eerie silence since the murder. She refuses to speak. She's plunked into a mental hospital and forgotten. Until a middle-aged psychotherapist is hired to help her....but he's hiding some inner demons of his own. Creepy premise...I can't wait to read more of this book!
I like the writing style. The story flows easily and creates suspense. Little hints of what is to come....little peeks into the psyche of both the patient and the therapist. Both have darkness in them....it really gave me that "oh no...something bad is going to happen'' vibe from the start.
