I don't want to give away any spoilers so I will write this carefully. I LOVED this book. I tend to read a fair amount of psychological thrillers, although I have to space them out because it gets to be too much. This story intrigued me immediately. Alicia seems to have murdered her husband, Gabriel, one night by shooting him 5 times. After she is arrested, she refuses to speak. She makes one final painting, though. What does it mean? Why won't she speak?
Enter Theo Faber, psychotherapist. He is fascinated with her story and gets a job at the mental hospital where Alicia is being held. Theo is convinced there is more to the story than meets the eye and that he is the person to get Alicia to open up. He begins working with her, despite difficulty from others at the mental hospital and pushes Alicia to reveal what really happened that night and why.

Normally, I can figure out where a psychological thriller is headed at some point. This book completely shocked me. I am still processing it all. I highly recommend it. You will not be able to put it down as you wonder if everything is as it seems.
