Theo is a psychotherapist obsessed with a patient that has lapsed into silence after the murder of her husband. Theo is determined to help Alicia deal with the truth of the circumstances and come back to reality.

This book switches between two point of views, Theo's and Alicia's, and seemingly weaves two different stories together flawlessly. The writing style is very fluid and easy to read. It did keep my attention but I didn't feel that it was as riveting as I was expecting throughout the majority of the book. The twist at the end did surprise me and that's always the mark of a good thriller, a twist you don't see coming by the midpoint of the book. This was an excellent debut novel and I plan to read more of Alex Michaelides's work in the future.
