The premise of this book was hard to beat. Alicia as the silent sole witness to her husband's murder was incredibly fascinating. I loved that setup - wondering what could possibly compel someone to stay silent, even if it means possibly getting charged for the crime or - as is what happens in the story - being sent to an insane asylum. Add in the main character's role as a therapist who, rather unethically, lies to get a job at the asylum in order to learn the secrets behind Alicia's silence, and you have a hook that reeled me in.

It didn't hurt that my book bestie loved this book and wanted me to read it ASAP so we could discuss. Heh.

I enjoyed the unraveling of the mystery and found it difficult to set the book down. I needed to know what happened next! I'll keep the review vague to avoid any accidental spoilers, but I will say that the ending surprised me. I did notice a few plot holes or things that didn't quite jive for me, but overall this was an enjoyable read!
