There was a lot of buzz surrounding this book before it came out, which always makes me excited to pick up a new thriller, but also pretty wary about whether or not it will live up to all the hype. I chose this one as a Book of the Month pick and FLEW through it in a matter of days! The story grabs you from the very beginning and does not let go...I mean, why would a successful artist who's seemingly happily married with a beautiful life just up and shoot her husband in the face and never talk again? That's exactly what Theo is at The Grove to find out. He starts a job at the hospital SPECIFICALLY to work with Alicia and get her to speak, so he can "uncover" what happened the night she killed her husband.
The story is told from Theo's point of view and through Alicia's diary entries, so you get the story in a fractured timeline from two different sources and it's not until the very end that it all comes together with a great twist.
I love reading debut authors and this was no exception...I can't wait to see what Michaelides puts out next!
