What a great, imaginative, “whodunnit” story filled with twists and turns. The author described his book as a “slow suspenseful story.” I think that description is exactly what I experienced. I won’t lie, there were a couple parts that were a little slow for my taste, but I needed to know how it ended so bad that I didn’t mind pushing through them.
Alex Michaelides does a sensational job building his unreliable narrators. It was quite a fun game trying to figure out who was lying and who was telling the truth. The overall story is so sad, addressing complex issues and emotions like love, betrayal, obsession, devastation, and guilt.
I came up with so many theories as I was reading this book. I’m kind of proud that one of my theories was a little right, but not totally. I was still shocked by the ending! The story didn’t stop unraveling until the very last second.
Read this book! I promise, it will not disappoint. I haven’t come across one bad, or even mediocre review! There’s so many moving parts of the story and they all come together into a mystery masterpiece! The hype is real y’all!!! So glad for that, because I hate nothing more than a big letdown!
