I'm loving this book so far, and that's totally not what I was expecting. Frankly, when I read the cover copy for this book I thought "so what?". A novel where the main character never said a word sounded like the definition of boring to me. However, I'm a few chapters into the book now and it's a real page turner. This is due entirely to the writing and the sympathetic voice of the narrator (we have sympathy for him, and he has sympathy for the main character). The word choice and sentence structure are engaging and captivating and draw us easily through the pages. I believe this is a debut novel and I'm excited to see what this writer gives us in his next book - a great new writer is always something to celebrate in my house.
