The cover for Silent Patient is one of those that reveals itself over time. At a quick glance it reminded me of the Goldfinch – with the tear and color palette, that made sense to me. But once I stopped and actually looked at the cover – once I stopped being distracted by the tear near the bottom left, I realized that there was a face there, with the appearance of her being behind or under some sort of linen. Something that would tear easily and roughly. It’s beautifully done.
I love it when a thriller starts off in a personal note. It’s nice getting to know some of the characters, but it can also throw you off the scent. Here I can honestly tell you that while I’m intrigued, I don’t quite know how the prologue will end up being relevant. I have a theory or two…but I’m more excited to keep reading and find out.
I’m enjoying the main perspective so far. I like the idea of it coming from both a biased and experienced character like this one. It’s unique, will allow for a lot of insight, but also clearly has some groundwork already placed for complications later. It’s fantastic!
