I liked that this opened with a diary entry, while it doesn’t give away anything really, it gives you a tiny bit of insight into the character before the narrative starts laying out some dry facts of the case. I’m very intrigued by what was troubling her, how the painting ties in, and what the dichotomy between her and her psychotherapist who appears to be fairly messed up, too. As for the cover, it wouldn’t really catch my eye at first glance, but looking closer, the tear is an intriguing element.
