tw: depression, suicidal ideation and attempted suicide

While I’m well past the target age of YA novels, I still really enjoy reading them. This book dealt with a lot but dealt with it all very well. The Sea is Salt and So Am I follows multiple points of view of twin brothers Ellis and Tommy and their friend Harlow. The novel starts out as a failed suicide attempt, and follows how this impacted the town and events following. The prose in this novel was just beautiful. However those who struggle with mental illness and suicidal thoughts might want to be cautious about reading this book. Not all characters in books will be likeable, these characters had flaws and not a lot of redeeming qualities - which helped to make this book feel even more real to me. The ending was a little disappointing to me but overall I really did enjoy reading this novel!
