An engaging and character driven story with realistic characters. I did feel like both Ellis and Harlow treated Tommy pretty poorly. He definitely deserved better than that. All three of them were very complex layered characters. They're so well done that you want to yell at them and yet deeply understand them at the same time. The summary says its reminiscent of Normal People and I definitely understand the comparison, so if you liked that book (I did), chances are you'll like this one.

I really liked the small town aspect. Growing up in a small town I understand the dynamic of them and I think this book did a really good job portraying that. I also liked all the environmentalism and mental health discussion. This is a book that I think is best read in one sitting, and then I'd put aside time to simply think about it. It is important to look up Trigger warnings!!
