This cover is just as beautiful as the story inside. The Sea is Salt and So Am I is centered around three teens living in a coastal town that is quite literally falling apart. There is Harlow who believes she breaks everything she touches, Ellis who chooses to run from all his problems, and Tommy who swam into the ocean with no intent on ever coming back.

First off, the friendships in this story are so real and made my heart hurt (in a good way). They were imperfect and harsh at times, but you never doubted their love. These characters have also created a twisted web of secrets that are always on the verge of ruining everything. And the manner in which these secrets were revealed was done in such a subtle and mysterious way.

While the story line intrigued me, it was the writing that kept me flipping the pages so fervently. The author's writing seemed effortless and her words flowed so beautifully. I have to say I loved the first and last chapters so much that I read them several times. And without giving anything away, I loved the ambiguity of the ending.

Bonus points for LGBT and mental health representation plus and amazing rep of the human animal bond!
