After reading this wonderful novel by Cassandra Hartt “The Sea is Salt and so am I” I found myself reflecting on the storyline for hours. The many characters are so well developed it truly seemed like they were people I knew.
At the tender age of only 16 Harlow Prout is desperate to rescue her hometown in Maine from devastation.
The story grips the reader from page to page as she faces obstacles every step of the way. To further complicate matters her best friend is dealing with his own problems and refuses to face up to any challenge including the depression his brother is going through. This gut wrenching story is so filled with emotion, love and friendship that is experienced through the varied points of view of each complicated character.
