Story vibes are tinted blue and gray

This book is so pretty. I love the art style, the colors of the waves, the font that matches it so well, and how everything continues into the book. The story is a little slow but very detailed and emotional. Maybe the story blurb and the disclaimer in the beginning made me more attentive to the emotions but I feel like everything is tinted blue and gray and I don't know where the depression/suicide notes are going to be. I just feel like everything starts off kind of sad, with the town eroding away, the beach decreasing steadily, and the house falling into the sea. Like everything is crumbling away and that can sad and depressing.
