Charming Characters and Rich World Building From the Start
Let me start by saying I cannot wait to read the rest of this book.
From the description of the fictional town this book is set in I feel like I've visited West Finch many times. It easily brings to mind many seaside Maine towns that I actually have been to. Even though we don't know much of the few main characters' backstory, their personalities shine and I feel a kinship to them immediately. They are charming without being cheesy and the relationship between Harlow and Ellis, as well as the relationship between Harlow and Ellis' twin brother Tommy, is made clear from the get go.
The writing is lyrical and very beautiful without feeling pretentious . The book cover certainly matches the tone of the story; abstract and stunning while still being something recognizable. I'm very much looking forward to this one.
