The cover is interesting, but nothing like eye candy. If I didn't read the excerpt, I probably would have passed on getting a copy. But the excerpt provided really captured my attention. The story reminded me of Judy Lin's, A Magic Steeped in Poison, which I loved. I was intrigued with Zilan's ability to raise the dead and I can't wait to read what happens next after she raises Gou's brother.
