With a cover that proclaims a strong and ready to fight protagonist, The Scarlet Alchemist looks to be a draw you in fantasy. Having a lead with secret abilities trying to fight not only for herself but friends, family, community, and country, all while adding in zombies and a possible romantic interest, makes for a story that I want to pick up. The historical aspect of setting it in Tang Dynasty China, albeit alternative, will help add to the allure as this time period hasn't been largely used in YA Fantasy. Excited to enter this world of alchemist, raising the dead, and a girl trying to live her dream.
