I loved this book. Emma is an unsuccessful actress and pretty terrible temp receptionist. Scott is her boss and offers her a job that is too good to be true. Handy woman in a French compound keeping Scotts’s wife and daughter company was a great way to make some much needed money. But things aren’t always what they seem.
I like the way the author makes this book very tactile. Scott putting a toothpick under his fingernail is just one of many examples. I also like the fact that all the characters were likable yet I just didn’t trust any of them. Everyone has secrets. I also enjoyed the switching of the voices of Scott and Emily with some inserts of Nina. I really liked the ending and without giving away any spoilers the fact that there is still some unfinished business with Emily kept me thinking about this story long after I finished reading it.
