Thanks for the opportunity to read an Advance Reader's Copy of The Safe Place by Anna Downes. Emily Proudman is an aspiring actress -- she has not landed a part in some time and now has lost her agent. In addition, she has been let go from her temp job as a receptionist. She is overdrawn at the bank and soon to be evicted from her apartment. Conveniently Scott Denny offers her a well paid position but with strings … she will be isolated on a beach estate in France with his wife Nina, and their daughter Aurelia. She will be a personal assistant, Jill of all trades and is sworn to secrecy about this position. Emily thinks this is a perfect answer for her predicament. Scott has carefully researched Emily's background and feels she is the perfect person to keep their secrets. A bit slow until the last 25% of the book when finally there is action, disclosure of secrets and decisions made. A good psychological thriller with a beautiful setting.
