Good attempt, lazy ending

This book is a typical mystery with the psychological twist you are waiting for. The story telling shifts in time back and forth to slowly reveal the back drop, as the main character discovers the secret that is yet to come. However, given the few characters and the foreshadowing, it wasn’t too difficult to see how the twist will turn out. I struggled to relate to the main character... I find the attempt with the character development depths to be disjointed with the plot: main character is too deep for a psychological thriller, the other two key characters to be too shallow in comparison. The ending feels lazy, but yet too long (linking back to the main character’s depth) that ultimately caused me to lose interest due to the predictability.
Overall, it is a quick, escape read for a good summer day.
