A sense of foreboding definitely hovers over this entire excerpt. I'm intrigued by the story and where it's taking us. That being said, I found both narrating characters unlikable. Emily seems to be a flaky user and Scott has hints of a dangerous sociopath. Unlikable characters can be a tough sell for me, but I'd like to find out what happens to Emily.
