My attention was captured immediately by the descriptive opening scene in which Emily is auditioning and how it doesn't go well. Being inside the heads of the characters is an interesting way of giving perspective and makes me want to read the whole book so I can see how this is going to play out and if the writing continues to flow the way it does in the beginning.
