Emily is working as a temp in a beautiful building while trying unsuccessfully to become an actress. She tries her best to keep the temporary job that she so desperately needs, but somehow she just does not fit in with the other people in the office. Then her worst fear becomes reality when she is fired for being late once again. She thinks that her life cannot get any worse as her rent is due and she can barely afford groceries, but then sees a note from her roommate saying their rent check has bounced and they need to find somewhere else to live. Emily tries to think of friends who may have a spare room, but she cannot come up with anyone. A last resort would be to call Juliet, her mother, but she only calls her when she needs money and she can hear the disappointment in Juliet's voice.
