There are so many things to love about The Rib King.

First, historical fiction is typically not my favorite genre.

However, in The Rib King Ladee Hubbard adds in race, class and revenge. I would say the book starts off slow ( that could just be me because this isn’t my typical genre) but in the middle it definitely picks up.

You’re given two points of view. Mr. Sitwell who seems always eager to make sure things go smoothly in the Barclay home and later on Miss. Jennie. I really enjoyed Jennies point of view. During this part Ladee Hubbard really gives a different point of view. Not only it being a black women but just how different other people can feel when it comes to race and class.

The Rib King is all about revenge as many others are too but there are other African Americans just trying to survive and live out their American Dream.

I felt this book was great, definitely opens your mind to how the world viewed race and class a century ago.

Makes you think about race now and much have we evolved and how do you view race and class ?
