Thank you @amistadbooks @bookishfirst for my review copy!

This was a very interesting story looking at racism and classism in the 1920s and honestly a lot of the prejudices these characters faced still resonated in current events, which made my heart sad.

I really enjoyed reading from both perspectives of Mr. Sitwell and Jennie. Not only did Jennie have to deal with the racism and classism that Sitwell did, but she also had the extra layer of being a woman fighting for her voice to be heard. I liked seeing the contrast and also similarities between their struggles.

There was so much about this book that tugged on my heartstrings. The fact that some of the racism that these characters had to endure, resonated with current events made my heartbreak.

Overall, an interesting and at times a heartbreaking story that I think historical fiction fans will love. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
