A lot of character development
The description intrigued me and the majority of the beginning of the book was character development and setting the scene, which makes a lot of sense! What I am most interested in is how they deal with white families taking advantage of their black butler's ideas and the larger theme of entitlement and exploitation. Unlike a lot of the other historical fiction that is available, this seems like a new and correct take on the types of relationships we are used to reading about created by white saviors.
I really like the cover of this book and I think it would stand out to a lot of millennials in my age group. I think this would be one that people pick up when they are browsing book stores, and could be an interesting book for book clubs to discuss.
