First of all, I love this cover! It's slightly reminiscent of Kehinde Wiley or Brandan Odums. I'm a sucker for a yellow cover, and this cover and title just dragged me in. I'm so excited for a new book by Ladee Hubbard! (Please go read The Talented Ribkins if you haven't.)

Anyways, my first impression. The book drew me in from the beginning, introducing August to us, as well as the three boys being trained on staff, and various other "downstairs" folks. We can see that Mr Sitwell is an institution in the Barclay home, and immediately we learn that something is awry in the household. And hoo boy is it awry!

As it turns out, the Barclays are broke, and shenanigans ensue in their grand plan to become financially solvent again. This preview made me want to know what happens to August, how does he handle all of this change (he strikes me as someone who is not a fan of change) and how does everything turn out for everyone in the Barclay household. Once again, Ladee Hubbard is taking us on a journey that uses something wild to bring home to us the way we are.
