It's not about the sauce.
Sounds like a wonderful book. Particularly the use of the word 'civilized'. I did like the title of the book. The book, set in the early 1900's, is certainly not different than the exploitative means that Black people are treated now. Is August supposed to feel adoration that he was delivered to the Barclay house from an orphan asylum? Should that negate any anger he has that he is being used for the Barclay's benefit? Hummpt!
