The economic exploitation of African Americans is a compelling topic to me, whether in fiction or nonfiction. For too many year the dominant class has exploited workers, and that injustice is most acute when it comes to Black labor. While I don't judge the quality of a novel based on whether or not I agree with its politics, I suspect I will learn from reading Ladee Hubbard's new work.
