First, thanks to BookishFirst for the ARC paper back. (The ISBN listed on my ARC paperback was listed on Goodreads as hard copy, so I had to post my review under the hard copy. I could not post a review on Amazon, because there were no paper back ISBN's listed. I tried to post it to the ISBN for the hard back since my ARC paper back had the same ISBN, but the site indicated that I couldn't post a review because the book hadn't been published.)
"The Red Address" book was given to 96 yr. old Doris by her father for her 10th birthday. He gave it to her to collect all her friends and everyone she meets in all the exciting places she goes. Doris faithfully adds addresses and when one of her friends passes away, she marks through his/her name and writes"DEAD" next to it.
Because the book goes from the present to previous times in Doris' life, I had to go back and forth to earlier chapters to remember people and places. In all it was a good book that tugged at my heart especially the last few chapters. Questions that will stay with me are: What is true love? Who was your first love? And the book ended with: "Did you love enough?"
Since it is an ARC, I knew there would be errors but the book read like a final copy until the end when Carl was quoted as Jenny's uncle. I searched back through the book and found that Carl was Jenny's grandfather. (Doris's sister Agnes and Carl had Elise who had Jenny. Wouldn't this mean Carl was Jenny's grandfather and not her uncle?)
